It is hygroscopic and deliquescent, eventually dissolving in water drawn from the air. It is widely used in ÂtextileÂprocessing, Âchemical synthesis and metallurgical fluxes as well as a smoke grenade mixture known as HC and, because it fluoresces, as a solution for detecting fingerprints.
