Lattice-based cryptography. Lattice cryptography uses high-dimensional geometric structures to hide information. A lattice is an infinite grid of dots (partially shown here). Lattice cryptography is designed to protect data from the possible threat of hackers who may one day be aided by quantum computing systems. Recovering this data without knowing a secret trapdoor is believed to be impossible, even by quantum machines. Image published in 2018. | |
