The mineral Hedyphane is a lead-calcium-arsenate-chloride in the apatite group of minerals, subclass arsenates. It is a rare secondary mineral formed in metamorphic manganese rocks. Its crystal system is hexagonal and the habitat in this example is characteristically fibrous in lustrous light hues, stretched out on a substrate of dark metamorphic rock. Provenance is Langban in Varmland, Sweden. Actual length of sample is 105 mm. | |
