Fossil branch of Zamites feneonis from Middle Jurassic (Kimmeridgian) sediments near Ain, France. Zamites is a genus of trees known from Mesozoic up to Eocene deposits in North America, Europe and India. Zamites is now extinct, but the leaves closely resemble the now living cycad Zamia.
