Ergilornis. Illustration of the flightless bird Ergilornis. Eogruidae (also spelled Eogruiidae in some publications) is a family of large, flightless birds that occurred across Eurasia from the Eocene to Pliocene epochs. Related to modern cranes, limpkins and trumpeters, these birds converged strongly with ostriches. Ergilornis was more than 1.6 m in height and 35-80 kg in weight. | |
