Tooth dentine. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of dentine (substantia eburnea),mineralised connective tissue found under a tooth's enamel. The pulp, the soft tissue containing nerves and blood vessels that makes up the inner part of the tooth, has been removed to reveal the pale blue mesh of new and partially formed dentine. This is a thin layer that separates the old dentine from the living cells of the pulp. Magnification: x1300 when printed 10 centimetres wide. | |
