Solar Eclipse from La Silla Observatory. On 2 July 2019 a total solar eclipse was visible from the European Southern Observatory (ESO) La Silla site in Chile. This composite photograph shows the progress of the eclipse and the moment of totality when the Moon covered the Sun. The eclipse lasted roughly two and a half hours,with almost two minutes of totality at 20:39 UT,and was visible across a narrow band of Chile and Argentina. | |
