Skin cancer cells, coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM). A melanoma is a type of skin cancer that can spread to other organs in the body. Exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun is thought to cause most melanomas but there is evidence to suggest that the use of sunbeds may also increase the risk. Melanoma is common in people under the age of 50 which is early compared to many other types of cancer. Magnification: x3000 when printed at 10cm wide. | |
