'Traite Elementaire de Chimie' (1789) by French chemist Antoine Lavoisier (1743-1794). The title translates as 'Elementary Treatise of Chemistry'. This work is considered the first modern chemistry textbook, and contained a list of 33 substances that Lavoisier termed elements.
