Apollo 12 photograph showing apparatus used in a Solar Wind Experiment. This sheet of foil like material was used to trap particles in the wind. During 18 hours of exposure, the foil was struck by between 6-7 million atoms per sec per cm sq. This confirmed the existence of a thin high velocity wind blowing across the lunar surface. Apollo 12 was launched on 14 Nov, 1969. | |
