A globe-shaped sign at the entrance to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, USA, depicting a 3D representation of the original NASA logo, known as the meatball. In the design, which dates back to 1959, the sphere represents a planet, the stars represent space, the red chevron is a wing representing aeronautics (in National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and the ring is an orbiting spacecraft. It was not called the meatball until 1975, when NASA changed to a more modern logo known as the worm. The latter was retired in 1992 in favour of a return to the old logo. | |
