Illustration of OGLE-2016-BLG-1195Lb, an exoplanet 13, 000 light years from Earth. It was discovered through a technique called microlensing by the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) and NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. OGLE-2016-BLG-1195Lb is about the same mass as Earth, and the same distance from its host star as our planet is from our Sun. The planet may be a brown dwarf or an ultracool dwarf, and is likely to be far too cold to be habitable. | |
