Friday October Christian, 1833. Son of Fletcher Christian (1764-c1793), ringleader of the mutiny of 1789 against Lieutenant William Bligh on 'HMS Bounty'. After casting Bligh adrift in a small boat, Christian, 8 of the mutineers and 17 Tahitians sailed the 'Bounty' to Pitcairn island, establishing a colony. Their descendants still make up the population of Pitcairn today. | |
