Uphall Camp, London, c100 BC. This is an artist's impression. The outline of the settlement is known from old maps and some of the internal layout from excavations. It is not yet known how densely occupied the site was in the Iron Age. Its position right by the river Roding suggests that river-borne trade may have been an important part of the settlement's economy. Artist: Frank Gardiner. | |
