The prostate gland is located at the base of the urinary bladder (blue and yellow). It encloses the urethra (green,top centre),through which urine passes from the bladder through the penis. Urine enters the bladder from the kidneys (not shown) through the two ureters (light blue,bottom left and bottom right). The prostate gland secretes a fluid that forms part of the semen produced during ejaculation. Additional fluids for the semen are produced by the seminal vesicles (light purple). Also shown on each side are the vas deferens (purple tubes).
