Electricity substation at night. In the foreground are some of the pole-type transformers. Just visible through the maze of wires left of centre is an electricity transmission pylon. The transformers reduce the line voltage from over 700 kilovolts (kV) used in transmission to the 110V- 240V used to supply domestic users. The transformers are mounted on concrete pedestals to prevent the supply earthing and leaking the electric current. | |
