This image of Enceladus, one of Saturn's many moons, was taken by the Cassini spacecraft on November 6, 2011, at a distance of approximately 90, 000 miles from the Moon's surface. At Enceladus' south pole can be seen the plume of water ice particles that continually spew from fractures in the Moon's icy surface. This indicates an ocean of liquid water beneath. Behind Enceladus can be seen the rings of Saturn, and a distant star appears at right. | |
