A dim auroral arc on the night of February 14/15 from Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. The three bright stars from left to right are: Deneb, Vega, and Arcturus. These are key stars in Inuit celestial navigation when they are low in the northern sky on winter nights. Arcturus is Sivulliik, or the one ahead, while Vega is Kingulliq, the one behind. Slight haze accentuates the stars naturally here. | |
