Salt solutions with universal indicator. Universal indicator changes its colour depending on the pH of the solution. Here universal indicator has been added to three salt solutions of 0.8M concentrations in beakers. Left to right: ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) produces an acidic solution and turns the indicator yellow. Ammonium acetate (NH4CH3CO2) produces a neutral solution and turns the indicator green. Sodium acetate (CH3COONa) produces a basic solution and turns the indicator blue. | |
