The scarce swallowtail butterfly (Iphiclides podalirius), also known as the sail swallowtail or pear tree swallowtail, belongs to the family Papilionidae. The species thrives in gardens and open fields and widespread in all but dry and colder climates, such in spite of its name (scarce). Photographed in southern France. | |
