Black-tailed prairie, Cynomys ludovicianus, dog at mouth of its burrow. This rodent inhabits the Great Plains grasslands of North America from about the USA-Canada border south to the USA-Mexico border. It was formerly much more abaundant with its decline due to manmade habitat changes and concerted efforts at eradication. Photo Badlands National Park, SD. | |
