The female genital system essentially comprises the internal organs (ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina) located in the pelvic cavity, which is defined by the pelvic bones. The vulva represents all of the external female genital organs. Made up of the two labia majora partially covering the two labia minora, it protects the clitoris as well as the vaginal opening. Breasts are not genital organs, but they participate in reproduction by allowing breast-feeding and in sexuality by constituting an erogenous area. | |
