This axial (cross sectional) CT image viewed with a bone window shows areas of osteonecrosis (devitalized-dead bone) involving both sides of the mandible. This is reported to be related to the administration of biphosphonates for a variety of bone conditions including multiple myeloma, metastatic bone lesions, osteoporosis, pagets disease, primary hyperparathyroidism, osteogenesis imperfecta and fibrous dysplasia. | |
