Miscibility. Left test tube contains ethanol and water. They are both polar solvents and are miscible. When they are mixed together they form a homogeneous solution. Right test tube contains cyclohexane and water. Cyclohexane is a non-polar organic solvent and is not miscible with water. Cyclohexane floats on top of water without mixing, as it has a lower density than water. | |
