Magnetite. Magnetite is a mineral of iron oxide (Fe3O4, iron(II, III) oxide). It is a naturally-occurring ferromagnetic and can be magnetized to become a permanent magnet. Naturally-magnetized magnetite is called lodestone. It is generally covered by smaller pieces of magnetite or other magnetic minerals. | |
