Asian wrinkle-lipped bats (Chaerephon plicatus) form colonies, ranging from tens of thousands to millions, in extra large caves through most of S.E. Asia. The species provides invaluable services in controlling pests of rice. However many of its former colonies have been lost to careless limestone mining and to overharvesting for human food. | |
