Copper (I) iodide precipitate. Potassium iodide (KI) was added to a test tube containing copper (II) sulphate (CuSO4). Elemental iodine is produced and copper (II) is reduced to copper (I) in form of a copper (I) iodide precipitate: KI + CuSO4 -> CuI + I2 + K2SO4. All solutions were 0.5M concentration. | |
