Lead chloride precipitate. Lead (II) nitrate (Pb(NO3)2) was added to a test tube containing sodium chloride (NaCl). Lead (II) iodide was formed as a precipitate. The reaction is: NaCl + Pb(NO3)2 -> PbCl2 + NaNO3. All solutions were 0.5M concentration. This double displacement reaction can be used as a test for presence of chlorides in a solution. | |
