Silver chloride precipitate. Silver nitrate (AgNO3) was added to a test tube containing potassium chloride (KCl). Silver chloride was formed as a precipitate. The reaction is: KCl + AgNO3 -> AgCl + KNO3. Both solutions were 0.5M concentration. This double displacement reaction can be used as a test for presence of chlorides in a solution. | |
