Boeing Dreamliner flight simulator. Wide-angle view of the cockpit of a Boeing 787 'Dreamliner' flight simulator. The aircraft is shown at the threshold of runway 27 left at London's Heathrow airport. The flight deck is typical of modern 'glass' cockpits, where traditional instruments have been replaced by multiple computer screens. However, the Dreamliner is the first large airliner to offer a heads-up display in front of each pilot. This screen shows important flight information, including an artificial horizon with speed, altitude and heading data, projected onto a clear glass panel directly in the eyeline. This enables the pilot flying to monitor instruments without taking their eyes off the outside world. The Dreamliner is a modern twin-engined, wide-bodied jet with variants carrying between 242 and 335 passengers over long-haul routes. | |
