Title page of a 1603 edition of Tycho Brahe's 'De Mundi Aetherei Recentioribus Phaenomenis Liber Secundus' (Second Book About Recent Phenomena in the Celestial World) first published in 1588. The book contained Brahe's observations of the Great Comet of 1577 and his Tychonic system of the Solar System. This was a geo-heliocentric model with the Moon and Sun orbiting Earth at the centre of the system, and the other planets orbiting the Sun. Brahe (1546-1601) is considered the greatest astronomical observer of the pre-telescopic era. | |
