A vintage Bleriot XI aircraft on display at the air and space museum in Le Bourget, near Paris, France. Louis Bleriot made the first flight of a heavier-than-air craft across the English Channel in this type on 25 July 1909. The aircraft has a wooden frame, canvas or linen covered wings and bicycle wheel landing gear. Its wooden propeller is powered by a small piston engine. | |
