Close-up of a node of nerve cells (also called the dorsal root ganglion), which is located just outside the spinal cord, along the spinal nerve. One of the cell bodies is seen at upper centre. These cells are responsible for processing sensory information or for coordinating impulses from other neurons. Magnification: x1920 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
