Absorbent wound dressing. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Mepilex Border silicone-faced polyurethane foam dressing. This is a cellulose layer that allows the wound to remain humid. When applied to an exuding wound, another, foam layer (not seen), will absorb excess fluid but maintain the wound surface in a moist condition providing a micro-environment that is conducive to healing. Mepilex Border is used on exuding wounds like leg ulcers, burns, and skin graft sites. Mepilex Border is manufactured by Molnlycke Health Care. Magnification: x250 when printed 10cm wide.
