US astronaut Charles Conrad, commander for the Apollo 12 lunar landing mission, standing beside the United States flag after it was unfurled on the lunar surface during the first extravehicular activity (EVA). Several footprints made by the crewmembers can be seen in the photograph. Apollo 12 was the second manned mission to land on the Moon, arriving in the Ocean of Storms on 19 November 1969.
