Spleen in Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Cut specimen of an enlarged human spleen in Hodgkin's disease, a cancer of the lymphoreticular system. Hodgkin's disease usually presents by the appearance of lymph node enlargement and later by enlargement of the spleen and liver and through bone marrow involvement. Various histological sub-types exist, each with a different pattern of behaviour and prognosis. Treatment depends on extent of disease and may include surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy or a combination of all three. Many patients can be cured, especially those with early-stage disease. | |
