Talaiotic prehistoric site, Menorca. These stone structures are part of the prehistoric Talaiotic site of Torre d'En Gaumes, on the Mediterranean island of Menorca, Spain. This view shows a well-preserved ipostilic room used as warehouse and for animals. The Talaiotic culture arose on Mallorca and Menorca during the second millennium BC, ending in the first millennium BC with the rise of the Roman and Carthaginian empires. Photographed in 2009. | |
