Dorothy Maud Wrinch (1894-1976), British mathematician and biochemical theorist. Wrinch is best known for her attempt to deduce protein structure using mathematical principles and is credited with playing a large part in the beginnings of modern research in molecular biology. In 1932 Wrinch was one of the founders of the Biotheoretical Gathering, an interdisciplinary group that sought to explain life by discovering how proteins work. | |
