SESAME (Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) project dipole power convertor. Construction of the independent laboratory in Allan, Jordan, began in 2002 and it was inaugurated in May 2017. SESAME is the only synchrotron facility in the Middle East, and the first in the world to be powered by renewable (solar) energy. Scientific research will be carried out across a number of disciplines, including medicine, physics, biology, archaeology and agriculture. Photographed in Allan, Jordan, in 2015. | |
