Drawing by Leonardo da Vinci of the dissection of the foot of a bear. Leonardo sought to compare the anatomy of humans with animals. Bears are the only large mammals that walk in a way similar to humans and to investigate this he made a series dissections of a bear's foot. In this drawing he concentrated on the tendons of the bear's foot and their attachments to the bones. An upper extensor tendon has raised the farthest claw. | |
