Standard dilute solution of hydrochloric acid is 1.0M. Under the current UN Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) this chemical strength requires a hazard label (GHS05) on dilutions of 3.0M and below. As well as the symbol there is a signal word and suppliers provide a numbered statement (H290) that gives information that this concentration may be corrosive to metals. Hydrochloric acid is a common laboratory chemical, used in a wide range of reactions, and is also used extensively in the chemical industry. | |
