Laboratory bottle and beaker of ammonia solution, a solution of the gas ammonia (NH3) in water, which forms ammonium hydroxide. The resulting liquid is alkaline and the current UN Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) labels indicate that this chemical is very toxic to aquatic life (GHS09) and will cause severe skin burns and eye damage (GHS05). As well as the symbol there is a signal word and suppliers provide numbered statements (H314 H400) that give more information. | |
