Clonidine is a drug used for a number of ailments. As an antihypertensive, it is used to lower blood pressure, reacting with alpha2-adrenergic receptors in the brain, resulting in decreased heartbeat rate and blood pressure. It is also used to treat migraine and flushing of the skin experienced during the menopause (menopausal flushing), also by controlling blood pressure.
