Winifred Phillips Hathaway (c.1870-1954), US public health worker and charity director. Hathaway is shown here in her role as Associate Director of the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness. She had just received the Leslie Dana Gold Medal at the June 1937 Association for Research in Ophthalmology meeting. Hathaway had graduated from Radcliffe College, obtaining a master's degree from the City College of New York (CCNY). She worked as a teacher and public health researcher, and in the 1920s organized sight-saving courses in schools. | |
