Sacrificial anode on a ship's rudder. The zinc plate at centre protects the rudder from erosion. Zinc is more reactive than the metal the rudder is made out of, and so corrodes in preference to the rudder. This sacrificial anode is on an abandoned fishing boat in Applecross, Scotland, UK. | |
