Cacao flower. Flower of a cacao tree (Theobroma cacao) growing from the trunk of the tree. Flowering from the main stem or woody trunk of a plant is known as cauliflory. This can allow trees to be pollinated or have their seeds dispersed by animals which cannot climb or fly. This plant is native to Central America and South America, but is cultivated worldwide for its beans, used to make cocoa powder for products such as chocolate.
