The specialized trailer is filled by combines on the lavandin fields and then brought back to the processing factory. The trailer body is plugged into steam pipes and steam is pumped through it to detach oil molecules from the seed pods and part mulched vegetation. A detachable hood is dropped over the top to take away the water vapor and oil molecules. This vapour is drawn off to condenser coils where it is condensed to a liquid. Lavandin is a lavender hybrid used for commercial perfumes. The yield is 1 litre per 50 to 250 kilos of cuttings but Lavandin can produce up to 7 times greater yield than lavender. It will be added to many products as an essential oil perfume. Products like cosmetics, washing powder, candles, soap, and various cleaners. Provence, France. | |
