Off-shore wind farm. View of a wind turbine at the Onsveig wind farm, Denmark. This was the world's first off-shore wind farm, consisting of 11 turbines each with a capacity of 450 kilowatts. Off-shore sites rely on fairly stable sea conditions, balanced by a reasonable amount of wind. It also allows turbines to be sited away from inhabited areas, reducing their noise nuisance. | |
