Reef manta ray (Manta alfredi). The manta is the largest of the rays, and it can reach around six metres from wingtip to wingtip. It inhabits tropical seas throughout the world, preferring coastal waters to the open sea. It feeds mainly on plankton and small fish, which it filters from the water as it swims. Photographed in the Pacific, in French Polynesia. | |
