A bi-metal thermal switch. A bi-metal switch is mechanical and consists of two metals of different heat coefficient characteristics bonded together. When heated the bi-metal strip bends, because one expands at a greater rate than the other. This breaks the circuit at a specified temperature to prevent overheating in a component or as a simple temperature control. | |
